CKM&A is thrilled to return to the Arts Club of Washington to present excerpts of Morgan’s acclaimed solo work Pōhaku with live accompaniment by electric cellist / composer Wytold. In addition Morgan and Assistant Director Tiffanie Carson will present their new duet Eye, and Carson will also dance the solo excerpt from Morgan’s 2002 work Ties That Bind.

Join Christopher for continued touring of his evening length solo Pōhaku.
Inspired by Morgan’s late cousin, Kumu Hula (hula master) John Kaimikaua (1957-2006) Pōhaku premieres one decade after his cousin’s passing, and nearly as long since the piece was first conceived. Performing live with Morgan are Kumu Hula Elsie Kaleihulukea Ryder of Kaimikaua’s Hālau Hula o Kukunaokalā, and classically trained electric cellist Wytold. Collaborators also include projection designer Sareen Hairabedian, scenery by Kapa maker Dalani Tanahy, lighting and technical direction by Brian S. Allard, and rehearsal direction by Tiffanie Carson.

Join CKM&A for a very special FREE presentation in the Family Theater at The Kennedy Center.
On the program will be Morgan's 2014 works In the Cold Room and Bruised, both featuring original scores for electric cello played live by music collaborator Wytold. Both works were praised by the Washington Post as "direct, transcendent and entrancing."
Also on the program Morgan will present excerpts of his solo Pōhaku.
